Installation Note 43223: When uninstalling SAS® 9.3, the process might fail on English editions of Base SAS® software
When you uninstall SAS 9.3 in a Windows 7, 32-bit operating environment, the process becomes unresponsive during the uninstallation of the English edition of Base SAS.
If this happens, first locate the IT log. The IT log is located here:
SASHOME\InstallMisc\InstallLogs\9.3
For example:
C:\Program Files\SASHome\InstallMisc\InstallLogs\IT_2011-05-06-09.30.46.log
Next, find the following line in the IT log file (it should be the last line):
ConfigurePerfMonTask - perfMonUnlodCtr Execute: C:\Windows\system32\unlodctr.exe sas
To allow the uninstallation process to complete, open the Task Manager, click the Processes tab, select unlodctr.exe, and click End Process.
To open the Task Manager, right-click an empty area on the taskbar and click Task Manager. You can also press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
This issue was fixed with SAS 9.3, revision 12w10, which was released in March 2012. For help with determining which SAS 9.3 release you have, see SAS Note 44477: "Determining your SAS® 9.3 release."
